  2.             TO ALL AMIGA PROGRAMMERS IN ANY LANGUAGE

  5. Following are details of how to submit programs for evaluation.

  8. 1) The program you are submitting must be 100% your own work, you will be 
  9. personally responsible for any breaches of copyright and as the copyright
  10. of your program will stay with you and not F1 you will be sued not us.
  11. Also the program must be exclusive to us and previously unreleased, except
  12. in demo form or if you have upgraded the software sufficiently. There may
  13. be other exceptions, ask us if you are not sure, we can only say no at worse.
  14.  
  15. 2) All programs submitted must be compatible with Amiga`s 500/500+/600/1200
  16. standard memory configurations.  Exceptions being things like AGA only.
  17.  
  18. 3) Please include the following details about your program:
  19. Basic outline of what it does, Language written in, Cheat modes (if any)
  20. How many levels (if applicable) which Amiga`s you have been able to test
  21. it on. Your name, address and phone number.
  22.  
  23. 4) Please supply full documentation on disk in ASCII.
  24.  
  25. 5) Please supply a stamp with all correspondence if you want a reply.

  27. If we accept your program
  28. -------------------------
  29. Your program will be sold for £3.99 if it is on 1 disk £4.99 2 disks etc.
  30. Your royalty per copy sold will be 25% of the selling price for example:
  31. Sold at £3.99 (£1 royalty)  £4.99 (£1.25 royalty) etc.

  33. Our top three selling programs authors each quarter will receive cash bonuses 
  34. (TBA).

  36. If we accept your program you will be sent a contract to sign, read it 
  37. carefully and if you are happy with it sign it and return as soon as 
  38. possible.  Most programs accepted will be sent to all relevant magazines for 
  39. review. Please leave sending review copies out to us as this is part of our 
  40. service to you.

  42. Every three months you will receive a cheque from F1 if your program has
  43. earnt 5.00 or more, if it has not then the money will be held over until the
  44. next quarter.

  46. If we cannot accept your program we will let you know within a week, maximum.
  47. We will tell you exactly what we think is wrong with it and may offer advice
  48. and ideas to make your program acceptable to us.

  51.       Some questions we have been asked by programmers recently

  54. Q. How, when and how much will I be paid for my program?
  55.  
  56. A. Royalties are calculated at 25% of the purchase price of your program
  57.    so if your program is being sold at £3.99 you will receive 1.00
  58.    for each and every copy we sell for you.  Cheques will be sent directly
  59.    to the programmers every quarter.

  61. Q. What type of programs are F1 looking for?
  62.  
  63. A. Anything of quality including games/utilities/educational, as long as your
  64.    program is better quality than a good P.D equivelent then you have a 
  65.    chance of acceptance, only about one in five programs are accepted by us.

  67. Q. Are there any rules for sending in my program for evaluation?
  68.  
  69. A. Yes, State your name/address/phone number on the disk label, All programs
  70.    must be original work and previously un-released, we can make
  71.    exceptions if you have distributed demo versions or tried selling by 
  72.    mail order unsuccessfully!  Every program must come with FULL on disk
  73.    documentation or instructions inside the program itself, this is very 
  74.    important and we can make NO exceptions.  Please let us know the minimum 
  75.    memory requirements (if known) and let us know what machines you know 
  76.    your program will run on, the minimum requirements are 500/500+ 600/1200
  77.    we can make exceptions in some cases on this point, please let us know
  78.    which language your program is written in and the language version, for 
  79.    example Amos V1.36, this will help us work out compatibility.
  80.    We will not except any obscene subject matter or anything likely to 
  81.    offend.

  83. Q. What else can F1 offer us programmers apart from our royalty?

  85. A. Not a lot! Well you can get 20% off of all our Licenceware products.

  88. Q. How are you going to sell my program?
  89.  
  90. A. We will do everything in our power to sell your product, At the time of
  91.    writing we have EIGHT distributers selling F1 products and we expect many
  92.    more to join us soon, the 8 are P.D Soft, 17 Bit P.D, Jorvik P.D, Langham
  93.    PD, Express PD, Scribble P.D, Seasoft Computing and Hornesoft PD.   
  94.    We will send review copies of most of our products to ALL the
  95.    relevant mags and will be coaxing news stories and plugs in any and every
  96.    mag on the market (including disk mags) We have also been advertising in
  97. @2 the top Amiga mags, but this will be slowing down as we take on more
  98.    distributers as they will e advertising for us. 
  99.    selling your program is the only way we can survive so you can be sure we
  100.    will be doing our best.

  102. Q. How do we know you will pay us the correct amount of royalties?
  103.  
  104. A. You don`t! This is a trust thing, but saying that all our income will be
  105.    from postal customers and they will mostly be paying by cheque which will
  106.    have to go through the F1 bank account which the taxman will have his
  107.    eye on for any discrepancies, we will publish sales records of every disk
  108.    which will be sent to you with your cheque, in any case we are honest 
  109.    people (Husband, wife and two kids) trying to make an honest living and we
  110.    want F1 to be a long term job for us and to do this successfully we have
  111.    to build a bond of trust with our programmers.  I have been stitched up in
  112.    the past myself and you get to know who the straight people are very 
  113.    quickly, we wouldn`t last long being dishonest it is in our interest to be
  114.    straight with you in the long run.

  116. Q. What happens if my program just simply does not sell?
  117.  
  118. A. We will give it every chance but if sales are zero for a year we may
  119.    offer to release it back to you but as it costs us nothing to keep it
  120.    on we will if you want us to.

  122. Q. Can I put adverts in my program for other products of mine not Licensed 
  123.    to F1?
  124.  
  125. A. Within reason, yes you can, most other Licenceware outfits won`t allow it.

  127. Q. What do you do with all those disks you are sent?
  128.  
  129. A. Not what you think! The disks that people send us (unless they 
  130.    pacifically ask for them back) we use to send out review copies to all the
  131.    magazines.  when you consider there are ten+ mags on the market this can 
  132.    add up to a lot of disks, so basically your disks help us to keep costs 
  133.    down and therefore the selling price down and more money for advertising, 
  134.    so be generous and let us keep your disks.
